THE CONQUEST, Oil on canvas, impasto

" ...and wherever i go, i seek not what fades and crumbles- not great yet mortal temples nor majestic changing skies. What i seek is all that matters, eternal and forever: if i seize the pearl of wisdom, i will be forever wise."

OCEANIDES, Oil on canvas

This work, Oceanides, was exhibited at the Finnish residence on the evening of the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Finland. The painting is inspired by the Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius who is also one of the most notable classical composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His music which reflects the Finnish psyche, played an important role in the formation of the Finnish national identity. This piece is named after a very intense and melancholic composition by Sibelius which he composed on a TransAtlantic ship bound for New York. I chose to take the extreme opposite path - instead of the intense mood falling down like tears, i took a 360 degree turn and visualized a triumphant flood of flowers.

LITTLE MAHARAJ, Oil on canvas, palette knife and brush

This Indian boy is a representation of inner wisdom amidst opulence. His eyes reveal a kind and wise heart, and his stature does not cause him any distraction from what he knows is true and real: spiritual knowledge. This painting was exhibited at The Night of India event held at the Indian Ambassador's residence in Manila Philippines, in 2006.

THE GEMINI FLOWER, Oil on canvas, impasto

This two-headed flower is a representation of two directions in one's life: the past and the future. The cup says, 'I hold you, i am all that matters. You never look to me, though i hold what is vital. I hold the all of you.' Exhibited at the Silahis Gallery.

The Finalist in Watercolor: A Flower Brimming With Tears of Joy

I made this piece on the day of submission of entries for the Guild of Philippine Jewellers' Annual Competition 2007, thinking that i should knock my two entries out of balance by creating a third. I have spent hours- no, days- on my first two entries. This winning one was done in four hours, from creative process to execution (painting). Making this entry taught me that when inspiration strikes, time does not matter.
